Last January, these three women downloaded The Body Coach app, each with a different goal — from easing pain and losing weight to getting stronger and fitter.
One year on, they've shared their stories show how small, consistent changes can lead to big results.
“I can now carry my sleeping 3-year-old granddaughter upstairs, and I don’t have to ask my husband to get heavy items out of cupboards for me,” says Body Coach app member, Janice Gibson.
Aged 62, Janice Gibson joined the app in January 2025 for one main reason: to lose weight. “I had slowly been putting weight on over a couple of years, due to hip pain,” she says.
Within one month, Jan had lost half a stone and felt almost instantly less in pain – ”my physio was impressed!” she says. “I felt happier in myself and didn’t get as stressed – and my hairdresser commented that I had a lot of new hair growth (my hair had been thinning due to menopause).”
“This app has genuinely changed my life,” says Jill Jelley, 45, who joined The Body Coach in January 2025 – and her transformation is all down to strength training.
Unlike some people who join the app, Jill was very active at the time. She’s been a regular runner for 20 years, but has always had niggles and injuries, especially with her knees. As she approached 45 and read more about the benefits of strength training for perimenopause, she decided to give it another go. She’s previously done dumbbell workouts on The Body Coach TV, so decided to give the app a try.
Jill says she feels stronger and much better about herself now – and best of all, she hasn’t had any running injuries this year.
Jane Carolan, 58, joined in January 2025 with a mission to lose weight and get her exercise mojo back. Although she’s always liked exercise, in the past few years she’d mainly only been walking for movement. “I loved hillwalking and especially the social side of it but was increasingly struggling to keep up with the group,” she says.
She says The Body Coach was the “catalyst” for her to transform her life. “I have changed my life around,” she says. “I have lost weight, turned fat into lean muscle, got strong and most importantly got fit again. I feel like my old self.”
