The power of exercise before surgery
Did you know 7,000 operations happen every day in the NHS? Exercise could help with recovery.
The first-ever Joe Wicks Festival is coming to Kew on 7 July – so what can you expect on the day itself?
The event is suitable for all the family, and will give you a whistle-stop tour in fitness, food, workshops, and inspiring talks.
Don’t forget, the ticket price (from £36 for adults and from £12.75 for kids aged 3+) includes entry to the beautiful botanic gardens at Kew as well, which usually costs £24 on the weekend. You can enjoy the gardens throughout the day, and after the festival finishes.
Quick-fire need-to-knows:
Here’s a little more information about what's going on...
Joe Wicks will be kicking off the day on the main stage – called Re-Energise – with a wake-up and welcome, as well as doing a talk later on in the afternoon. Our main stage area will have fitness activities and guests there all day, including: calming yoga with live violin and cello, a Sound Bath and Jasmine Hemsley, and even a live DJ.
We want to make sure the festival can be enjoyed by all, so we’re really excited that there’s lots on for kids of all ages. There’ll be face painting, a Burpee Bears' reading from Joe, and a mini PE With Joe for toddlers! For under 5s, there’s also a safe play area with climbers, slides, rockers, cars, a house-play set-up, a dressing up box and a quiet reading corner. And for the older kids, there are activities to help test their balance, accuracy and hand-eye coordination.
It’s a feel-good festival, so there are lots of activities that’ll calm your mind and boost your energy in the ReTreat area. Throughout the day, you can try out as many classes as you’d like as part of your ticket price. Each session is 30 minutes.
You can choose from:
Fancy having a picnic with Joe? Over lunchtime, we’ll be inviting everyone to the main stage with Joe to have a picnic together! You can bring your own food or choose from some of the options on offer at Kew. And it won’t just be food, the picnic will include some added extras such as bingo, a quiz, a mini movie, a live DJ, and hula hooping!
At our ReConnect stage, we’ve invited some amazing speakers to chat to you about some of the most important aspects of our wellbeing. We have Dr Megan Rossi discussing gut health, Kathryn Pinkham talking about the importance of sleep, Kate Rowe-Ham leading a talk on menopause, James Davies on wellness, and Kate and Toby Oliver on positive living.
If you were a PE With Joe fan throughout lockdown, now’s your chance to do it in person! Joe is bringing PE With Joe back to the main stage at his festival for a grand finale – and with a live DJ, too.
